Prologue: No one gets out alive

“Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult, once we truly understand and accept it, then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters. “ M. Scott Peck

I read The Road Less Traveled for the first time around 2007. Since then I have revisited it no less than 4 times, every time I read it, I get a little closer to transcending this adventure we call life.

My value proposition for 2025 is this, I will write a story, each post will have a chapter heading and a good bit of reading. I am laying out the year early, foreshadowing what is to come.

I have been actively writing on this platform for > 2 years. I have tried many different writing styles, but storytelling was always my passion.

In 2024 I set a target to get to 10,000 followers, boy did I miss that one. I tried to maximize my engagement and thought that likes and impressions were the goal. I was wrong.

This year I will do something different, I will go back to telling stories. If you have stuck around this long, think of 2025 as if we were all working in the same office and we having a conversation. We could have this conversation over a cup of coffee, a cigarette (oh how I miss the great talks over a Marlborough) or a lunch.

Things you will not get from me in 2025 are quick pieces that you can read while driving, you will have to actually scroll and read. I will also have some beautiful pictures to share, each picture will be part of the story.

I am looking forward to this new year and writing this story week by week. For those that have been following and commenting, THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!!!

Let’s begin.
